Hi!
I'd like to get to work on this, but I don't really want to waste a lot of time researching things that we are not going to end up using.
Can we take a vote or something and move forward with one idea?
I know it's Spring Break, but my kids have off NEXT week, and I'd like to spend time with them.
Thanks.

Amen. Esp. with CommED going on and I start my Bingo papers for the month next Tuesday...
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of Supporting Art in Schools. We could each pick a city in the Tri-Valley and do research for donation/foundation/PTA, etc. info.
If this sounds good to everyone, I'd like to take Dublin. Linda, you already did Livermore research, so that is a great start. We would need Pleasanton, San Ramon and maybe Tracy?

Since I believe global warming and other environmental issues are important in everything we do, and it was your idea, I think we should add a 'green' element to our overall theme. Whether it just be little 'fun fact' about recycled paper and inks, and how the computer and web have cut paper usage AND (hopefully)/OR we do out printing with green products.
What do you all think?
That sounds good to me. Although I think it would be more beneficial to take on the whole of the Bay Area, since it affects a larger community than just the Tri-Valley, and it would reach a lot more people that way. My thought is we could all do independent research on anywhere in the Bay we can, but if we find a specific school/city/foundation that needs major help then by all means focus on that. But I think it'll really limit our themes potential if we just focus on Tri-Valley area...
ReplyDeletegood point. I agree.
ReplyDeleteAmanda, I was liking your idea (the Billitnikoff Foundation), but I am certainly happy to go with arts in the schools.
ReplyDeleteThe following information from the president of LVEF in Livermore might be helpful to our research:
"As a start, I would suggest contacting the Alameda County Office of Education. Many local foundations attend quarterly meetings there, (I go to represent LVEF), and the ACOE might have a list of them to make your search easier. Both Pleasanton and Dublin have foundations with the acronyms, PPIE and DPIE which stand for Pleasanton Partners in Education and Dublin Partners in Education. I'm pretty sure a web search would give you some contact information." -Vicki Schellenberger
President, LVEF
Jaclyn,
ReplyDeleteI think the reason to focus it in the Tri-Valley is because that was part of the scope of the work (I believe--I guess it depends what you mean by local).
BUT, since we're all doing different final projects, I'm sure you could branch out around the Bay too.
I'm totally cool with support of the arts. Let's do that, if everyone agrees.
ReplyDeleteGREAT! I am hoping so have something to share next class, but it may be the one after. My real world clients have been taking precedence.
ReplyDeleteSee you Tuesday!
