Are these too busy?

I'm having trouble balancing the demands of the assignment (Thought, Dialogue, Action) and desire to educate and inform with the fact that it all begins to look very cluttered when I begin to add in facts, etc. Even my 7 year old said that there was too much going on. (And I'm not even done with panel 1 yet.) However, he WAS l0oking at them all together, and when viewed in isolation they are maybe okay.

Also, FYI, I lost a lot of work both Friday and today from overloading the machines. I am trying to work big to start, but BEWARE, it's dangerous. I have to go in and give paragraph styles to my type.

Help?

Meg

  1. They're in reverse order. Yellow is first, blue second, green third.

    Sorry for that.

  2. I think the "color a life" logo is not necessary in the blue panel. It seems like too much.

Thats all I see wrong ;) very nice

  3. Meg,
I have a high-res band picture now, if you want to use it (slightly different pose). Let me know if you want it before tomorrow night - then you can decide to keep or lose the mask.

I really like these. I like the palettes.

I'm having the same problem trying to keep the panels uncluttered while being informative. I like your copy. Remember they are going to end up very big, so I'm wondering if we can make some of our supporting text relatively small. On the other hand, if they are 9 ft tall, the bottom (and maybe the top too) will be hard to read and may not draw much attention.

For me, the only one that really feels too cluttered is the green one. The other two really do a nice job of leading the eye around the page.

  4. Meg-

Like Linda's panels, I feel yours have really come together. I agree with Linda's comments on the green panel.
I'd also blow up the logo on the blue panel

    That's it really.

I am having issues at work today and may not make it to class on time... hope to see you sooner than later
